Services
The computer club offers a number of useful services to the campus community, most of which are also available to off-campus addresses as well. Many of these complement (but are not related to or endorsed by) services offered officially by CMU Computing Services. Typically, we offer services targeted at serious users that are not offered by Computing Services because they would be utilized by only a small segment of the campus community, would cause unnecessary load on official servers, might represent a source of minor controversy (certain open source archives come to mind), or would be expensive to offer under their usual quality-of-service guarantees. By virtue of being a student organization and catering to a smaller audience, we are able to host such services. We can't offer the uptime assurances of official services, but we've proven to come quite close (and occasionally, we're better)!
